"to encourage Believers..."

This popular group is based in Bluffton, Ind., and its members have recorded more than 40 albums.
It was inevitable.  The Shane brothers grew up in a singing family, and - day after day - the home stereo blared quartet music. The Blackwood Brothers, the Stamps, the Statesmen, the Oak Ridge Boys, the Kingsmen - permeated the Shane household.  Too, the brothers' formative years were spent attending church events - revivals, campmeetings and numerous youth camps.  Music, especially four-part harmony, was always included.
By 1992, Rick had already been singing professionally.  And Jeff, who had been serving in the Marines in South Carolina, had attended several gospel concerts in the South.  Some concerts featured his brother Rick, and Jeff was smitten anew. He and Rick agreed.  "We've got to sing."
So the three brothers, Rick, Jeff and Mike - natural singers with a blend that only family members can generate - enlisted help from a first tenor singer, and they began harmonizing and ministering together.  The quartet members are Mike Shane, who sings second tenor or lead; Jeff Shane, who sings baritone; and Jim Loving, the only non-family member, who sings first tenor. Rick, the oldest brother, is currently active as a gospel soloist.
Today, the harmonies have been perfected, and the responses of audiences throughout the Midwest are gratifying.  Says Jeff, "We enjoy each other's company, and we love the message of the music.  Again, it's all about encouraging Believers."
The group appears yearly at churches, conventions, fairs, RV parks and other special events.
